About Computer Science at Reed College

The Mathematics Department at Reed College offers a major in computer science (officially launched in 2017) and an interdisciplinary major in mathematics-computer science. These majors are designed for students interested in pursuing computer science with a firm foundation in mathematics. The emphasis in mathematics helps students make an impact in advancing the field, for example, say, in data science and machine learning. Students at Reed also pursue "ad hoc" interdisciplinary programs in CS-Physics, CS-Biology, CS-Philosophy, and CS-Art, or study computer science as their allied field for their majors in Linguistics and in Psychology.
